The coach and manager code of conduct serves as a reminder of the important role coaches and managers have in the development of our players. Live Oak Little League should be about fun, physical exercise and character development, and not just about winning.
The behavior of Managers and Coaches while on the field, in the dugout, at home, or on the road will abide by the following rules.
There will be a zero tolerance policy in effect for the use of foul language in front of the players, coaches, opposing team, umpires, and fans in the stands. If the Board receives notice that this rule isn’t being upheld, the offender will be suspended from the next game. The second infraction will result in a two game suspension. If it happens more than twice in the season, the Board will consider removing the coach or manager from their duties.
There will be no negative or critical comments aimed at opposing players, coaches, or umpires in a rude, aggressive, demonstrative manner. If you have an issue with an umpire: call time, approach them in a courteous, respectful manner, and state your case. If you can’t do this, don’t say ANYTHING. If the Board receives notice that this rule isn’t being upheld, the offender will be suspended from the next game. The second infraction will result in a two game suspension. If it happens more than twice in the season, the Board will consider removing the coach or manager from their duties.
There will be no negative behavior in the dugout regarding a call by the umpire by the manager, the coaches, or the players. If you feel you aren’t mature enough to abide by this, please remove yourself from the dugout or field until you have regained your composure. If the Board receives notice that this rule isn’t being upheld, the offender will be suspended from the next game. The second infraction will result in a two game suspension. If it happens more than twice in the season, the Board will consider removing the coach or manager from their duties.
Managers will be held accountable for the actions of their players and coaches in regards to poor or lack of sportsmanship. If it is brought to the Board’s attention that there is a systemic issue regarding sportsmanship, the Board will consider replacing the Manager.
Do the right thing, set the right example, make the right choice. The well-being and character of the league depend on it.
