Meetings

Meetings are the 1st and 3rd Mondays once a month during the off-season and twice a month during the regular season and are typically held at the VFW Post 7263 (2259 7th Ave). Board Meetings Time:  7:30 - 9:00 pm.

Roles & Responsibilities of Local Board of Directors

Position Descriptions

LEAGUE PRESIDENT: LOCAL LEAGUE ROLE

Presides at league meetings, and assumes full responsibility for the operation of the local league. The president receives all mail, supplies, and other communications from the Little League International. The president must see to it that league personnel is properly briefed on all phases of rules, regulations, and policies of Little League. The league president is the contact between the local organization and Little League International.

Vice President

Presides in the absence of the president; works with other officers and committee members; is ex-official member of all committees and carries out such duties and assignments as may be delegated by the President.

SECRETARY: LOCAL LEAGUE ROLE

Maintains a register of members and directors; records the minutes of meetings; is responsible for sending out notice of meetings, issues membership cards and maintains a record of league’s activities.

TREASURER: LOCAL LEAGUE ROLE

Signs checks co-signed by another officer or director; dispenses league funds as approved by the Board of Directors; reports on the status of league funds; keeps local league books and financial records; prepares budgets and assumes the responsibility for all local league finances.

PLAYER AGENT: LOCAL LEAGUE ROLE

Conducts annual tryouts, and is in charge of player selection, assists president in checking birth records and eligibility of players; serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the local league and generally supervises and coordinates the transfer of players to or from the Minor Leagues according to provisions of the regulations of Little League.

SAFETY OFFICER: LOCAL LEAGUE ROLE

Coordinates all safety activities; ensures safety in player training; ensures safe playing conditions; coordinates reporting and prevention of injuries; solicits suggestions for making conditions safer; reports suggestions to Little League International through the league president and prepares the ASAP plan for submission to Little League International.

Umpire-in-Chief (U.I.C.)

Serves as coordinator of and advises the league President on the league umpire program; responsible for recommending umpires to the league President for appointment to the league umpire roster; recruiting and retaining volunteer umpires; establishing a league umpire training program consistent with Little League® guidelines; coordinating and assisting with conducting umpire clinics at league and district level; communicating rule changes to league umpires; scheduling league umpires for regular season games; evaluating league umpires using established guidelines to maintain program integrity; further continual improvement, and prepare league umpires for advancement to tournament levels; communicating with and providing updates to the District Umpire Consultant on the league umpire program, and attending Umpire Training programs at the District, State, Region, and/or Headquarters level.

League Information Officer

Sets up and manages league’s official website; sets up online registration and ensures the league rosters are uploaded to Little League; assigns online administrative rights to other local volunteers; encourages creation of team web sites to managers, coaches, and parents; ensures that league news and scores are updated online on a regular basis; collects, posts, and distributes important information on league activities including direct dissemination of fundraising and sponsor activities to Little League, the district, the public, league members, and the media; serves as primary contact person for Little League and Dick’s Team Sports HQ regarding optimizing use of the Internet for league administration and for distributing information to league members and to Little League International. Provides player, coach, and manager records to Little League International in electronic format.

COACHING COORDINATOR: LOCAL LEAGUE ROLE

Represents coaches/managers in league; presents a coach/ manager training budget to the board; gains the support and funds necessary to implement a league-wide training program; orders and distributes training materials to players, coaches and managers; coordinates mini-clinics as necessary; serves as the contact person for Little League and its manager-coach education. Receives and distributes coaching information from Little League International and distributes to all coaches and managers.

SPONSOR FUNDRAISING MANAGER: LOCAL LEAGUE ROLE

Solicits and secures local sponsorships to support league operations; collects and reviews sponsorship and fundraising opportunities; organizes and implements approved league fundraising activities; coordinates participation in fundraising activities; and maintains records of monies secured through sponsorship and fundraising initiatives.

Snack Shack/Concession Manager

Maintains the operation of concession facilities; organizes  the purchase of concession products; responsible for the management of the concession sales at league events; schedules volunteers to work the concession booth during league events; collects and reviews concession related offers including coupons, discounts, and bulk-purchasing opportunities; and organizes, tallies and keeps records of concession sales and purchases.

Marketing/Public Relations Manager

Oversees new player recruitment efforts; develops and maintains a league marketing plan focused on player recruitment and retention; oversees efforts to market new divisions of play and initiatives offered by the league; works with local media to promote the interests of Little League, and coordinates efforts to make the local Little League visible in the community year round.

Code of Conduct

Purpose:
To provide a safe, fun and enjoyable environment for all participants of LOLL.

Policy:
It is the goal of LOLL to provide a safe, fun and enjoyable environment for our children to play and learn the game of baseball. It should be the primary objective of every Board member, manager, coach, official, and parent to ensure that this goal is achieved and maintained in our League. It is with this in mind that the LOLL Board of Directors has mandated the following Code of Conduct. All parents, managers, coaches and officials will read and sign this Code of Conduct acknowledging that he or she understands the policy and agrees to comply. The Board of Directors feels that firm guidelines, on which our managers, coaches, officials, players and parents can rely, will encourage an attitude of good sportsmanship and mutual respect. With all of your help, disciplinary actions will never need to be imposed. In the event that a Board member, manager, coach, official or parent displays disruptive behavior or unsportsmanlike conduct during any sanctioned Little League event, an umpire or league official may ask the that person to leave the ballpark. Reports of any infractions of this Code should be given in writing as soon as possible to the Division Coordinator. The Board of Directors will review all infractions of the LOLL Code of Conduct. Depending on the seriousness of the infraction or the frequency of infractions, the board may assess disciplinary action from a warning up to and including expulsion from the League.

Field Rules:
• Only players, coaches, umpires or league officials are allowed on the field at any time.
• Treat players, coaches, umpires, league officials and other parents with civility and respect.
• Do not interfere with the ability of a coach to devote his/her attention to the game or practice.
• If there is a question on a specific call, the Team Manager may, from the dugout or Third Base Coaching position, ask the umpire to explain the call. Even if an appeal is made, once explanation from the official is received, further discussion must wait until in between innings.
• Only a Team Manager may dispute a call. The dispute must be raised prior to the next pitch. The Team Manager and the Umpire will resolve the dispute before play resumes.
• Only the Team Manager may initiate a discussion with an official. Any discussion with officials must occur between innings or following the game. This discussion will be in the presence of the opposing manager and official.
• There are to be no issues raised with an official during the course of an inning in play.
• All questions and discussions held with umpires, managers, coaches, or parents will be held in conversational tones only.

Improper Conduct:
• Abuse of an official, coach, player, or spectator, whether it is verbal or physical, including but not limited to, swearing and/or obscene gestures will not be tolerated.
• Equipment throwing by any player, manager/coach or fan will not be tolerated.
• Physical contact with another player, manager, coach or umpire not in the spirit of the game by a player, manager/coach or fan.
• Smoking, Chewing Tobacco and Alcoholic beverages will not be tolerated on the fields during the season.

Other Conduct:
• No Animals (except disabled assistant or law enforcement), skateboarding, rollerblading, or bicycle riding on the school grounds.
• No climbing on buildings, backstops, fences or trees.
• After each game and practice, each team must clean up all trash in and around dugout and at the stands.

If at any time the Code of Conduct agreement is not followed further actions will be taken.
